Admission criteria

The admission criteria have been grouped to assist you to easily find the information most relevant to your circumstances. However, you may fit into more than one and the university will consider applicants against each of the relevant criteria.

Certain conditions apply. For more information refer to Appendix 4 of the University's Selection and Entry policy.

To be eligible for selection, applicants are required to have:

Completed the South Australian Certificate of Education (SACE); and

completed 200 credits of subjects;
achieved a grade of C* or better in the Personal Learning Plan, 20 credits of literacy, 10 credits of numeracy and the Research Project at Stage 2;
achieved a grade C- or better in an additional 60 credits at Stage 2;
obtained a competitive ATAR.

* For Stage 2 subjects a grade of C- or better is required

Alternatively, the minimum educational requirements may be met by those who have one of the following qualifications:

completed the equivalent secondary education qualifications as required for university entry under SACE;
completed a three year bachelor degree program in a related discipline, at a recognised higher education institution;
completed a recognised Advanced Diploma from TAFE;
completed the International Baccalaureate Diploma;
qualified for Special Entry and obtain a competitive score.

Where previous study/work experience was conducted in English, the application must be accompanied by certified documentation from the educational institution/employer certifying that the language of instruction/employment was English.

Aim

The program is designed to provide an education and professional level qualification in the fields of quantity surveying, construction management, building technology, building structures, building surveying and housing studies.

Rules & notes

Notes

1. Credit is granted for approved studies completed in an educational institution or for approved work undertaken or performed in a particular area relevant to the course and within a period which may be specified for that course. Maximum credit allowed is three quarters of the total points for the course.

2. Students are required to gain a minimum of 100 days of relevant industrial experience during the program. This will be assessed in the course Industry Based Learning. Students are encouraged to seek advice from the Program Director.

3. Students who have a credit level or better average prior to entry to the final year of the program may take the Honours stream of final year in accordance with University Policy.

4. To qualify for professional accreditation students must complete both courses in the same area of specialisation in their final year.

5. The schedule contains a statement of the hours of formal attendance for the Building Research Project or Building Research Project (Hons). A total student effort of 300 hours is required over the year.

6. The Building Research Project is a year-long research project made up of two courses - Building Research Project 1 (BUIL 4023) and Building Research Project 2 (BUIL 4024) or Building Research Project 1 (Hons) (BUIL 4001) and Building Research Project 2 (Hons) (BUIL 4002). Students enrol in these courses over two study periods - Study Period 2 and Study Period 5. Students who commence their research project should enrol in Building Research Project 1 or Building Research Project 1(Honours), regardless of whether they commence in February (SP2) or July (SP 5). The Building Research Project 1 and Building Research Project 1(Hons) are prerequisites for the courses Building Research Project 2 and Building Research Project 2(Hons) respectively. Please consult your Course Coordinator or your Program Director if in doubt.

7. This program includes elective courses. A list of elective courses is available from the UniSA website via http://www.unisanet.unisa.edu.au/programs. The selection will be subject to availability and satisfaction of pre-requisite requirements.
