Course aim

At the end of this course students will be able to display appropriate knowledge in respect to building estimating principles and practice from a contractor's perspective.

Course content

Introduction to building estimating and tendering. Using unit rates to cost major building trades including: siteworks, concrete works, carpentry, brickwork, structural steel, roofing and finishing trades.  Assessing project preliminaries/overheads/profit. Competitive techniques.  Project procurement. Tender preparation. Tender negotiations. Post tender administration.
