To extend the students' knowledge of construction and Fire Technology into the areas of tall building construction and mechanical systems using specialised construction techniques and integrated active and passive fire protection systems.
Key design and construction aspects of tall buildings, including movement dampness techniques, height premiums & building structures, transfer structures, footings, rapid formwork techniques, vertical transportation and services, and sustainability and energy considerations. Active fire protection systems, including fire spread, fire extinguishers and hose reels, fire hydrant, sprinkler, detection and fire alarm, smoke management, alternative fire solutions, fire engineering, building upgrade, fire systems for special risks and fire/CAD systems.
