Applicants are required to have:
- Completed a Bachelors degree from a recognised higher education institution or equivalent; OR
- Completed a Graduate Diploma from a recognised higher education institution.
English language entry requirements
In addition, international students who speak English as a foreign language must have obtained one of the following standards within the last two years prior to admission. Possession of one or more of these qualifications, in addition to the academic entry requirements, does not, in itself, guarantee a place at the University of South Australia. Applications are considered on an individual basis and selection is competitive. Where previous study/work experience was conducted in English, the application must be accompanied by certified documentation from the educational institution/employer certifying that the language of instruction/employment was English.

Aim

The program prepares students for careers in a wide range of business information management areas: technically skilled records managers, archivists, preservation managers and administrators, as well as information officers at graduate and postgraduate levels.

Rules & notes

Rules

1. The program requires the completion of 54 units comprising 36 units from the Graduate Diploma and either: (a) 18 units consisting of 2 core courses and 2 electives or (b) 18 units consisting of 2 core courses and the ICT Masters Professional Project 1 or (c) 18 units consisting of 4 courses in the Library and Information Management program.

2. Students undertaking this program will be required to complete 6 weeks of appropriate work placement to satisfy accrediting bodies.If students are employed they will be exempt from this work placement. Students must enrol in the course Information Management Experience Reports and assessment will remain incomplete until the student either provides documentary evidence of current employment or submits a written report and receives a pass.

Notes

1. Not all electives will necessarily be available in any one calendar year and the decision on whether or not to offer a particular elective will depend on student demand.

2. This program is mainly offered online. There is no residential requirement for the program, but students are required to visit appropriate information management facilities as part of various courses in the program.

3. This program is available fully online from anywhere in the world, or face-to-face in Adelaide. There is a required 4 week industry placement. This program is accredited by the Record Information Professionals of Australasia (RIM).
