To ensure students are familiar with the theory, models and practices which relate to the management of archives
The learning process will include a review of the historical development of archival theory internationally and nationally; a review of national and international recordkeeping standards and principles and their application in the archival context - including capturing, maintaining and using records; the value of records for memory; record keeping roles and responsibilities; risk management; governance frameworks and characteristics of the jurisdictions in which record keeping activities occur; advocacy and education; assessment of archival management models and how they relate to the digital environment; the challenges relating to the management and preservation of traditional format and digital materials; practical sessions relating to the management of archives; current issues in archival management and recordkeeping, and keeping up-to-date.
