Course aim

To provide students with the theoretical foundations, knowledge and skills to describe and organise resources in formats, using international standards to enable information discovery.

Course content

Theoretical foundations and history of bibliographic organisation; study of principles for organising various types of documents; representation and organisation of information resources, including organisational structures such as, indexes, bibliographies and catalogues; role and application of international content and carrier standards; role of bibliographic organisation systems in inventory control systems; cataloguing workflows and management; practical applications of metadata and online cataloguing.
