As a property professional you will gather and analyse information to help you make informed decisions and offer practical advice about the use and management of property.

The degree starts with core courses  in areas such as analytics, accounting and economic theory. These will give you a solid grasp of business fundamentals that you can apply to a range of careers. 

In your specialisation you will focus on property valuation, development and investment. Specific areas include building evaluation, planning and land use, property law and economics, property practice, investment and development, and entrepreneurship.

Study hours

For each course you study, you will need to allocate time for various classes such as lectures, tutorials, workshops, seminars and practicals. Plus you will need additional hours to study in your own time to complete assignments, readings and projects, as well as to contribute to online discussion forums (independent study). So as a general rule, if you are studying full-time you would need to allocate 12–26 hours of study when at university and 14–28 hours of independent study per week.

0001_Michael.Mullan_14.11.13.jpgFrom day one of your degree you will progress through a series of courses covering the physical, economic, planning and legal aspects of property as well as specialist areas including property valuation, agency and management and property funds management. 

This degree is the longest-running specialised undergraduate property degree in Australia. It is accredited in Australia and internationally by:

  • Australian Property Institute (API)
  • Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS)
  • The Board of Valuers, Appraisers, Estate Agents and Property Managers in Malaysia

This degree is dynamic and its program structure is informed by industry and the latest practical research in the field. Therefore, as a graduate you will be equipped with the knowledge and skill required by the industry.

You can also get practical experience through an experiential elective or participate in a business simulation project.

Fast-track to Masters

Want to gain a postgraduate degree with just one extra year of study? You can package the Bachelor of Business with a Master of Management and graduate with two qualifications in four years with our Fast-track to Masters package. You’ll study a three-year bachelor's degree and a one-year master’s degree (which typically takes two years) by swapping selected undergraduate courses or electives for postgraduate courses, and set yourself up for career success, fast.

Professional accreditation and recognition

The Bachelor of Business (Property) meets the education requirements for graduates to apply to be registered as Valuers by The Board of Valuers, Appraisers and Estate Agents Malaysia

The program has been formally accredited by the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) and provides the academic base for membership.

The program has been formally accredited for Associate Membership and Associate Membership with Certified Practicing Valuer (CPV) Certification of the Australian Property Institute (API). To be elevated to CPV, associates of the API will need to have met the supervised valuation experience requirements as set out by the API. All graduates of this program will need to comply with the conditions specified in the agreement.

This program meets the education requirements for graduates to apply to be registered as Valuers by The Board of Valuers, Appraisers, Estate Agents and Property Managers, Malaysia.

Your program director

I am a Senior lecturer in Economics and Financial Planning, and my research focus is on international economics in the context of capital flows and their implications on economic growth. I am passionate about teaching and I lecture a broad range of courses at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. I am privileged to be involved in the delivery of the longest-running specialised property degree in Australia, and upon graduation, graduates will be equipped with the necessary skills to qualify and register as a Land Valuer with the Office of Consumer and Business Services in South Australia.
