The admission criteria have been grouped to assist you to easily find the information most relevant to your circumstances. However, you may fit into more than one and the university will consider applicants against each of the relevant criteria.

Admission to the program will normally require completion of an approved TAFE / VET award at Certificate IV level in addition to at least two years of work experience in adult vocational education and training or equivalent.
OR
Alternatively the minimum educational requirements may be met by those who have at least two years of work experience in adult vocational education and training or equivalent and have:
Completed the South Australian Certificate of Education (SACE); and
* For Stage 2 subjects a grade of C- or better is required
OR
Applicants are advised that a successful criminal history screening clearance is required for all students prior to their undertaking any professional experience/practicum placement that involves contact with minors (under 18 years of age). Information on the procedure to be followed for obtaining clearance will be provided with the letter of offer or may be viewed at the School of Education criminal history screening web page. These placements form a compulsory part of the program. A successful clearance may also be required for other courses, eg to enter any school, pre-school or childcare centre for any reason, including on placement, observation or visits, unless the students are already registered teachers.
Note: Normally, all successful applicants to the program will have access to an adult education or training situation (in a voluntary or paid capacity) in which to practice, reflect on and demonstrate skills and competence. Should students have difficulty meeting this requirement, assistance to gain access to an adult education or training situation can be obtained through the Practicum Office in the School of Education.

1. The award can be completed on a part-time or full-time basis.
1. Content Area Specialist Studies can be selected from any area within the University or by negotiation with the Program Director.
2. Students select four of the courses listed above as their AVWL Specialist Studies 1 - 4.
3. The Aboriginal Studies Elective in Year 1 must be chosen from the listed courses offered by the David Unaipon College of Indigenous Education and Research.
4. Students who enter the program at Year 3 will be required to replace one of the following three courses with an Aboriginal Studies Elective (see Note 3): EDUC 3044 Organisational Cultures and Learning Communities, EDUC 3047 Work, Self and Society, EDUC 3045 The Educator as Counsellor.
5. All students complete at least one University Wide Elective as part of their undergraduate program. See undergraduate elective courses.
