Applicants are required to meet one of the following criteria with a competitive result, and demonstrate that they fulfil any prerequisite requirements and essential requirements for admission:

Applicants who have not achieved the Selection Rank required for automatic selection may be selected for any remaining places based on the grades of their year 12 subjects.

Students can apply for this program using the Application to Change Program form after successfully completing one semester of study at UniSA.
This fast-tracked program of study offers an accelerated pathway to a master level qualification that provides you with an advanced level of knowledge in the specialised field of electrical engineering.
Electrical engineers are needed wherever electrically powered tools, devices or systems need to be designed, manufactured or maintained. These systems include those that generate, transmit or distribute electrical energy; that acquire, process or deliver information; or, automate processes and deliver services.
As an electrical engineering student, you will have access to industry standard facilities, with UniSA ranked No.1 in SA for engineering facilities¹. Facilities include the newly refurbished Power System Laboratory, Digital Electronics Laboratory, Electronics Innovation Laboratory and the Mechatronics Laboratory.
By combining your undergraduate studies in electrical and electronic engineering majoring in power engineering, with a Master of Engineering (Electrical Power), you will further develop your skills with advanced topics in electrical power systems, such as the operation and control of modern power systems, renewable and distributed energy distribution, and advanced modelling of electrical machines.
Our connections with industry will see you gain at least 450 hours of skills and competencies through the UniSA STEM Professional Practice Program, including placements, internships, guest lectures, industry panels, site visits and networking events. Your undergraduate degree will start with building a strong foundation in engineering, including computer programming, applied mathematics and physics. As yours studies progress, you will learn about analog electronics, digital electronics, software development, embedded systems, computer networking, electrical machines, signal processing, and control systems.
A significant portion of your honours year will then involve a major project supported by industry clients, or based in a research centre such as the Sustainable Infrastructure and Resource Management concentration.
Your power engineering major will provide learning in subject areas such as power system fundamentals, renewable energy systems, power electronics, operation and control of modern power systems and industrial automation systems in preparation for your postgraduate studies where you will study advanced electrical power engineering.
The development and application of research methods and skills are central to the degree and will be vital to the completion of your master thesis.
The UniSA STEM Professional Practice Program will allow you to apply the skills and knowledge attained throughout your studies in real-world settings.
This fast-track to master program enables you to commence a Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) (Electrical and Electronic) and secure a place in the Master of Engineering (Electrical Power) to be completed in five years of study instead of the typical six years, with the program granting you one year of advanced standing.
Professionally accredited by Engineers Australia, your undergraduate degree will equip you with advanced practical skills and theoretical understanding of power systems, renewable energy, analog electronics, digital electronics, computer programming, embedded systems, telecommunications, signal processing, automation and control. You will have access to industry standard facilities and enjoy significant opportunities to apply your knowledge and skills through the 450+ hours of the UniSA STEM Professional Practice Program.

To be a successful electrical and electronic engineer, you should be a good problem solver, show a passion for understanding science, mathematics and technologies, and applying your knowledge to the betterment of the quality of lives. You could consider pursuing a career as an electrical design engineer, electronics engineer, computer / embedded system engineer, power system engineer, telecommunications engineer, control system engineer, systems engineer, engineering consultant or as an entrepreneur using initiative, commercial acumen and broad ranging business skills to develop or transform a product or service.
With the combination of the bachelor and master program there are additional career options for highly qualified electrical engineers. You could work in renewable energy systems (wind farms and solar), in power transmission or power distribution, or in support of major consumers of electric energy within the manufacturing industry. Dr Habibullah is a Lecturer in Mechatronics Engineering at the UniSA STEM, Mawson Lakes Campus. Previously, he worked as a lecturer in Mechatronics Engineering with the School of Environment, Science and Engineering (SESE), Southern Cross University (SCU), Australia. Followed by an FNRS Scientific Collaborator with the BEAMS Department, Universite Libre de Bruxelles (ULB), Belgium, Research Associate, and Casual Academic positions at the University of New South Wales (UNSW), Canberra at the Australian Defence Force Academy.
Dr Habibullah received a BSc degree in Mechanical Engineering with First Class Honours 1st from the Rajshahi University of Engineering and Technology (RUET), Bangladesh. He has been awarded the University Gold Medal for his excellent performance during his undergraduate study. He has completed ME and PhD degrees in Mechatronics Engineering from the University of New South Wales (UNSW), Australia. He is a member of the Asian Control Association (ACA), the International Federation of Automatic Control (IFAC), and an Ex. member of the LIGO Scientific Collaboration (LSC).
His research interests are in the joint areas of control theory and application, mechatronics, bio-mechatronics, robotics, industrial automation, nanotechnology, low-frequency vibration isolation, and vibration control of mechanical structures.

Postgraduate study by research
For information on applying to do postgraduate study by research, including Masters by Research, PhDs or Doctorates, please visit http://unisa.edu.au/resdegrees.
There is no closing date for submitting your application however the admissions process takes between one and three weeks from the date that we receive your application and all required supporting documentation.
If you are completing an Australian year 12 qualification in Australia or overseas, or the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Programme in Australia, you must apply through SATAC. Key dates for applications can be found here.
You may be eligible to receive credit or advanced standing for your chosen UniSA degree based on your previous studies, if they are in a related area at an equivalent or higher level. Receiving credit will reduce the number of courses you undertake within the degree, and may also reduce the overall duration of your degree.
The amount of credit you may be eligible to receive is assessed on a case-by-case basis by the Admissions team.
