Aim

The Bachelor of Arts (Performing Arts) qualifies individuals who apply a broad and coherent body of knowledge in practice-driven academic and creative discourse that integrates an extensive artistic repertoire including cabaret, music performance, theatre and digital and sound technologies to undertake professional work in stage and screen environments, community arts and creative education. Graduates will develop research and project management skills enabling them to pursue further learning in honours and higher degree research or postgraduate studies in teaching.

Content & Structure

Students of the Bachelor of Arts (Performing Arts) degree will experience integrated study of contemporary drama, various genres of music, cabaret and musical theatre that blend theory and performance-making within the context of digital production techniques and technologies. Graduates of this program will have theoretical and practical knowledge through participating in live productions, creating and analysing live performance and produced work under the guidance of industry practitioners and guest artists.

Graduates will have a second Arts major to expand their technical, analytical and communicative skills essential for practice in the professional environments and further learning in a culturally diverse global marketplace.

Students will complete 108 units of study comprising 9 units of core courses, 36 units of an Arts specialisation, 36 units of a second Arts major, 18 units of a minor, and 9 units of electives.
