Aim

The Bachelor of Arts (Social Media) will provide students with in demand skills and knowledge in this rapidly increasing field. From developing social campaigns, understanding social media metrics, developing both print and online content and understanding the power of social media data and its application, students will have a broad skill set on completion of this major ready for application in a variety of professional settings.

Content & Structure

Students undertaking the Social Media major will develop the skills and knowledge to develop and implement social media campaigns to gain followers and create conversations with primary audiences; understand the range of social media metrics to be applied to campaigns, to achieve real results for organisations; align social media brand to audiences, and advise on use of available digital channels; manage and grow online communities; be media savvy with strong copywriting skills; write digital content including blogs, develop content calendars and scheduling; be able to create and develop text and visual assets for presentations, websites, email newsletters, tenders and submissions; manage social media, content publishing/basic editing of website plus website analysis, optimisation and refinement; design social media banners, edit in-house video content for multiple social media platforms.

Graduates will have a second Arts major to expand their technical, analytical and communicative skills essential for practice in the professional environments and further learning in a culturally diverse global marketplace.

Students will complete 108 units of study comprising 9 units of core courses, 36 units of an Arts specialisation,
36 units of a second Arts major, 18 units of a minor, and 9 units of electives.
