Graduates of the Bachelor of Arts (Creative Writing and Literature) degree will have a broad and coherent body of knowledge in the theory and practice of creative writing and the ways in which all creative forms help shape discourse and communication within and across cultures, particularly how a literary context, its creative and consumption, serves as a reflection of culture. Graduates will have knowledge of the historical and cultural significance of creative and critical texts across a range of genres such as fiction, poetry, creative non-fiction, auto-biography, essays and plays from multiple places and periods, learning to communicate effectively as readers, writers, researchers, speakers, advisers and performers and will develop their own creative repertoire and artistic portfolio.
Graduates will have a second Arts major to expand their technical, analytical and communicative skills essential for practice in the professional environments and further learning in a culturally diverse global marketplace.
Students will complete 108 units of study comprising 9 units of core courses, 36 units of an Arts specialisation, 36 units of a second Arts major, 18 units of a minor, and 9 units of electives.
