Aim

To prepare graduates with an existing degree in another field to work in a diverse and changing range of services for the education and care of children from birth to eight years of age.

Content & Structure

The 72 unit program is made up of 16 x 4.5 unit courses taken by students over two years, or the part-time equivalent. The program includes studies in curriculum, child development, professional experience and one education study Education, Change and Society that comprises the compulsory Indigenous study. The program provides a balance between professional experience, curriculum and child development studies. The award comprises the following: 1 education studies course, 3 child development courses, 8 curriculum courses covering all currently defined learning areas, and 4 Professional Experience courses, one in each study period of the program.

From 4 August 2025, the University of South Australia will no longer be accepting applications for new students. Study at Adelaide University.
