Course aim

To equip students with skills and knowledge to provide and justify appropriate programs in social education for children aged Birth - 8 years in contemporary Australian society and environments.

Course content

Definitions of social education; socially just and transformative curricula, intended and unintended curricula; contexts of social education; use of appropriate teaching strategies and resources; planning, programming and evaluating social education curriculum; understanding the teacher's role in social education with children birth-8 years; aspects of cultures, race, ethnicity and social systems in contemporary Australian society including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures.
