Baptist Care SA provides out-of-home and disability care; youth education and employment; homelessness and therapeutic support services in South Australia. Baptist Care SA is a recognised leader in providing opportunities to enable those in need to achieve their full potential.

Project 1 – Community Food Hub Promotion

Food Insecurity is a huge concern for many South Australians and this concern is growing in light of COVID-19.

Baptist Care SA’s Community Food Hub in Wright Street is run in partnership with Foodbank.  Food Hub which provides affordable and some free grocery items for concession card holders, is a partnership with Food Bank, which seeks to provide affordable grocery items for all concession card holders.

Food Hub is just 18 Months old and this means there are still many people facing financial hardship who do not know they are entitled to shop there.   One of these groups are University Students (including International Students).

Baptist Care SA is looking for a creative student (or small team of students) to spread the word about Food Hub.   Students will develop creative ways to promote Food Hub to university students and the wider community, along with providing much needed support at the Food Hub shop.

Project 2 - Frontline Meal Service for People Experiencing Homelessness

Baptist Care SA's Westcare Centre provides 120 meals a day to People Experiencing Homelessness.

You can be part of this practical meal service by working in our Westcare Kitchen.  One of the joys of working in the kitchen, is the opportunity to meet and build connections with people in the Homelessness Community.

If you are looking for a 'hands on', practical experience, that makes a huge difference for those experiencing economic difficulty and social isolation, then this is for you.  Work involves meal preparation; serving; cleaning and building connections with community members.

Additional student requirements:
