Aim

The program provides graduates with a practical and theoretical knowledge of all aspects of nutrition science and prepares graduates to improve the health, fitness and wellbeing of the community. Graduates are prepared for work in health and fitness centres, sporting organisations, sports performance laboratories, community health and rehabilitation settings and physical activity providers.

Content & Structure

This 144 unit program is structured around Nutrition courses and Health and Physical Education courses. In consultation with the Program Director, students may elect, in place of the Health and Physical Education courses, to complete a study stream in Rehabilitation Sciences (pre-Physiotherapy/Occupational Therapy/Clinical Exercise Physiology), Advanced Sports Science, Sports Coaching, Outdoor Education or Health Promotion.

Professional accreditation and recognition

Graduates of the program are eligible to apply for professional membership of the Australian Institute of Food Science and Technology (AIFST).

Graduates of the program are initially eligible to apply to the Nutrition Society of Australia for registration as an Associate Nutritionist (ANutr), leading to Registered Nutritionist (RNutr), usually after three years of experience.
