The admission criteria have been grouped to assist you to easily find the information most relevant to your circumstances. However, you may fit into more than one and the university will consider applicants against each of the relevant criteria.
To be eligible for selection, applicants are required to have:
Completed the South Australian Certificate of Education (SACE); and
completed 200 credits of subjects;
achieved a grade of C* or better in the Personal Learning Plan, 20 credits of literacy, 10 credits of numeracy and the Research Project at Stage 2;
achieved a grade C- or better in an additional 60 credits at Stage 2;
obtained a competitive ATAR.
* For Stage 2 subjects a grade of C- or better is required
Alternatively, the minimum educational requirements may be met by those who have one to the following qualifications:
Completed the equivalent secondary education qualifications as required for university entry under SACE; OR
Completed or partly completed a recognised higher education program at a recognised higher education institution; OR
Completed at least four Open Learning Australia (OLA) courses at the appropriate level; OR
Completed a recognised diploma or associate diploma from TAFE or Certificate IV level course; OR
Completed the International Baccalaureate Diploma; OR
Qualified for Special Entry; OR
Completed the University Foundation program.

In addition, international students who speak English as a foreign language must have obtained one of the following standards within the last two years prior to admission. Possession of one or more of these qualifications, in addition to the academic entry requirements, does not, in itself, guarantee a place at the University of South Australia. Applications are considered on an individual basis and selection is competitive. Where previous study/work experience was conducted in English, the application must be accompanied by certified documentation from the educational institution/employer certifying that the language of instruction/employment was English.

The Bachelor of Sustainable Environments has been designed to meet the needs of government, business and industry, to supply graduates with a broad knowledge of environmental sustainability and provide specialisations in one of four awards.
Content & Structure
Students are required to complete 108 units of study for the successful completion of the program. The program consists of a first year which is common to all awards. This lays a foundation to the following two years in which one of four awards may be further pursued. Students may elect to change awards at the end of year one. The awards are Geospatial Information Systems, Geographical and Earth Systems, Environmental Protection and Management, Biodiversity and Park Management.
1. The program is offered on a three-year full-time basis. The program can also be taken on a part-time basis.
2. Credit will not be granted for more than 66% of the total units of the program.
3. Electives:
Some electives will only be offered if sufficient enrolments are received, so may not be available in all years.
There may be limited numbers of enrolment places in some field-based electives.

Additional electives are available from the Schools of Mathematics and Statistics, Pharmacy and Medical Sciences and International Business, following approval of the Program Director.
4. A number of courses include a field component (which will vary in length and distance travelled and may incur additional charges).
5. The courses Coastal Environments and Tourism and Indigenous Peoples are normally held in Study Period 1 (Summer School).
6. The course Landcare and Restoration and Ecotourism, Sustainable Environments and Community are offered every alternate year, (available even years only).
7. The course Fire and Ecosystems is offered every alternate year, (available odd years only).
