Biodiversity for the Environment

Course aim

This course introduces students to an understanding of how whole organisms function in their environment.

Course content

Terminology and classification of organisms in the five kingdoms, cell structure and function, photosynthesis and respiration, use of a microscope, plant structure, function and water relations, common Australian plant families, flowers, fruits, seed dispersal, vertebrate structure & function, scientific report-writing, mitosis and growth, meiosis and sexual reproduction, evolution, ecology of populations and communities.
