To develop students' knowledge of the complex nature of learners' disability and diversity and to apply these in the research and design of professional educational approaches which promote inclusion, social justice, equity, human rights, partnerships, person centred planning and advocacy.
Students will analyse concepts and theories of inclusion, exceptionality, equity, social justice, marginalisation, human rights, partnerships, person centred planning and advocacy with integration of legislative, ethical and policy directions. Students will inquire inclusive educational practice which aims to maximise the learning outcomes and curriculum access for students with special educational needs, disability, learning difficulties, language and communication disorders, social and emotional disorders, giftedness and marginalisation associated with gender, culture, race and linguistic diversity from birth to adulthood.
