How do I apply for an extension if I’m in the Elite Athlete and Performer Program?

Applications for any extensions are made through the LearnOnline Course Website and should be done before the due date of the assignment/assessment.

In your application note that you are a university approved Elite Athlete or Performer and clearly state your reason/s for the request and provide supporting documents.

Will my teaching staff know I’m in the Elite Athlete and Performer Program?

While teaching staff are here to assist you, it is your responsibility to be proactive in planning your studies and communicating any needs and issues early. It is expected that you will identify yourself to your Course Co-Ordinators and check the timetable of practical placements with your performance commitments. Finally, if you think you may not pass your course due to extended absences and you would like to withdraw, please check the census date for the relevant study period.

Whilst it is the responsibility of the student to discuss their needs with relevant course coordinators, we also advise their Program Director (or supervisor if PhD student) and the Campus Central Team Leader(s) at time of acceptance.

If you need any assistance or information please contact us at askCampusCentral@unisa.edu.au

Can I defer my exams if I’m in the Elite Athlete and Performer Program?

As a registered athlete and performer, you can apply for a secondary exam (deferred exam) if you have significant sporting or performance commitments at the time of your examination. You need to apply for the secondary assessment within five days of your exam or final assessment due date. Find out more about secondary assessments and how to apply here.

What should I do if my sport or performing is interfering with my attendance and study?

If you will be away for long periods of time or have multiple upcoming competition or performance commitments it may be helpful to arrange a study plan with you Program Director or to negotiate attendance alternatives and discuss how best to manage your study/training/competition schedules.
