    Admission criteria

    The admission criteria have been grouped to assist you to easily find the information most relevant to your circumstances. However, you may fit into more than one and the university will consider applicants against each of the relevant criteria.

    Certain conditions apply. For more information refer to Appendix 4 of the University's Selection and Entry policy.

    Completion of a Certificate IV in Allied Health Assistance or equivalent from TAFE or other recognised RTO.

    Applicants must be an Australian Citizen, Permanent Resident or the holder of a Humanitarian Visa.

    Minimum two year FTE work experience employed as an Allied Health Assistant. There are no restrictions on which occupational discipline the applicant has worked.

Aim

The Diploma of Allied Health provides a pathway for students without the traditional university entry requirements to undertake tertiary study. The Diploma offers a unique blend of foundation studies courses as well as specific discipline courses to allow graduates to continue into the second year of their chosen degree.

Content & Structure

The program consists of 72 units of study. This consists of eight foundation courses which develop sound academic skills. The program will also consist of eight discipline courses in one of the following specialisations: Physiotherapy, Podiatry and Occupational Therapy.

    Rules

    1. Students are required to successfully complete all 72 units to attain the Diploma and transfer to the second year of the related undergraduate degree.

    2. Students are required to complete the Diploma within 4 years to be guaranteed entry into a degree program at UniSA.

    3. Students must enrol in and attend Successful Tertiary Study in the first half of the second year to fulfil the requirements of the Diploma.

    4. Students who complete the UniSA Foundation Studies Program prior to entry to the Diploma will be granted up to eight courses credit.

    5. Second year Diploma students studying first year Podiatry, Occupational Therapy and Physiotherapy courses where clinical placements, including in University clinics, is required must be registered on the student register of the relevant national registration board. The University is required to notify the details of enrolled students to the board and no action on the part of the student is required. However, if for any reason student registration for a student is not grained or is later rescinded by the board, the student would not be eligible to study those courses and would then be transferred to a degree where student registration was not requirement.

    Notes

    1. Students who have English as a Second Language will be provided with advice as to whether this course is the most appropriate following their enrolment. The course LANG 46 English Language Studies for Second Language Learners of English will be available to these students.

    2. Students must discuss course choice with the Program Director to ensure they comply with program requirements when transitioning to the full degree program.

    3. Enrolment in Successful Tertiary Study is optional in the second half of second year
