The aim of this course is to develop student understanding and associated skills required to practice effectively in hospital settings.
Health care service models. Role of multi-disciplinary health team and responsibility of team members. Provision of occupational therapy services in acute and hospital settings. Exploration of the occupational impact of a range of conditions commonly seen in a hospital setting. Occupational therapy assessment and intervention skills associated with these conditions including clinical reasoning, initial assessments, discharge planning, home assessment, goal setting and report writing. Safe and ethical practice in acute care and hospital settings.
