Aim

The aim of the Bachelor of Arts (Aboriginal Studies), Bachelor of Social Work is to prepare students for social work practice by developing knowledge and skills which are based in theory from the social, political and behavioural sciences, social work theory and practice, combined with knowledge of Indigenous cultures and practices relevant to working with Indigenous peoples and their communities.

Content & Structure

The program has a strong emphasis on social work knowledge and skills embedded in an understanding of Aboriginal peoples experiences of the historic, economic, cultural, social and political context of post contact Australia and an approach to culturally sensitive practice which reflects contemporary understandings of reconciliation, human rights and self determination.
