To extend students’ knowledge and skills of professional communication into the use and management of digital and visual media.
Students will become familiar with the principles, conventions and lexicon of digital and visual design in order to be able to use basic tools of design, evaluate effective visual communication practice and critique the value of emerging technologies to an organisation’s communication effort. The course will prepare communication professionals for collaboration with, and management of, specialist designers in the production of material across multiple text- and web-based platforms. In particular, it will consider visual design tools, content management systems, CSS and style guides, SEO/SEM, video production, image access, copyright, and briefing processes.
