Course aim

To provide preservice teachers with the opportunity to work in depth in education settings appropriate to their specialisation, enabling them to further develop the knowledge and skills that they acquired in their first year placement(s).

Course content

Preservice teachers will develop knowledge of planning for teaching and learning using appropriate curricula, pedagogies and resources; developing skills and attitudes in critical reflection; developing professional relationships with children/young people, their parents/caregivers, peers, and staff in the junior primary/ primary/ secondary school setting; understanding the nature of teachers’ work; building on children/young people's funds of knowledge; creating and managing a positive learning environment. Preservice teachers will have the opportunity to practice skills in these areas during their supervised placement in a primary school or secondary setting according to their specialisation.
