To introduce students to key concepts in media and journalism in relation to the social, cultural and technological contexts in which the media operate.
Theories of journalism; globalisation; technological change in newsrooms; media ownership and regulation; PR and news; social and political influences on journalism; contemporary models of journalism practice; global influences on journalism; foreign correspondence; independent media; gendered news practices.
