For entry into the Graduate Diploma in Information Management applicants are required to have:
- A completed Bachelor degree in any discipline from a recognised higher education institution; OR
- A completed Graduate Certificate in Information Management with a Grade Point Average of 4.0 or above from a recognised higher education institution.

Aim

The program provides graduates with advanced learning in library and information management including opportunities for placement with an organisation and a capstone project, Information Management Project (INFS 5067).

Content & Structure

To qualify for this award students are required to complete 36 units. The program covers areas of library and information management that focus on how libraries and other information agencies work in the 21st century. The areas include management, reference, collection management, technology, cataloguing and classification.

From 4 August 2025, the University of South Australia will no longer be accepting applications for new students. Study at Adelaide University.

2. Students must choose one of these two courses.

3. Enrolment in this course is required at least three weeks prior to the study period beginning so projects can be allocated to student groups.

Professional accreditation and recognition

This program has been granted Australian Library and Information Association (ALIA) Gold reaccreditation. As part of the accreditation requirements students must complete an industry based project for a minimum of 80 hours duration.
