Aim

The program provides graduates with advanced learning in library and information management including opportunities for placement with an organisation and a capstone project, Information Management Project (INFS 5067).

Content & Structure

To qualify for this award students are required to complete 36 units. The program covers areas of library and information management that focus on how libraries and other information agencies work in the 21st century. The areas include management, reference, collection management, technology, cataloguing and classification.

From 4 August 2025, the University of South Australia will no longer be accepting applications for new students. Study at Adelaide University.

Professional accreditation and recognition

This program has been granted Australian Library and Information Association (ALIA) Gold reaccreditation. As part of the accreditation requirements students must complete an industry based project for a minimum of 80 hours duration.
