Course aim

To provide students with the theoretical foundations, knowledge, and skills in data creation, curation, analysis and retrieval using metadata schemas and repositories.

Course content

Theories, principles, and practices of data creation, curation, analysis and retrieval using metadata schemas; vocabulary for resource description; metadata element sets and value vocabularies design, evaluation and application to optimise intellectual access and longevity; issues around metadata sharing, metadata quality, Linked Data, and the future of metadata creation.
