Aim

The Master of Design (Interior Architecture) qualifies individuals who apply an advanced body of knowledge and specialist theoretical framework in professional design, communication, project management and research skills in response to the increasing demands and complexities of interior design practice in multi-disciplinary project teams in professional practice or scholarship, and as a pathway for further learning.

Content & Structure

Graduates of the Master of Design (Interior Architecture) will have a body of knowledge of the principles and practices of designing and maintaining socially and environmentally responsive interior environments that sustain human existence. Graduates will also have knowledge of research methods and principles for critical evaluation and application to the interior design practice and the multi-disciplinary field of design.



Graduates will demonstrate the application of knowledge and skills through a substantial research-based project where graduates will critically review, analyse, identify and propose solutions to complex design challenges through the various stages of a design or building project, from its conceptual design and documentation through to its production and beyond.



The students will complete 72 units of study comprising 36 units of design research studio, 13.5 units of research methods and project, and 22.5 units of electives.
