The admission criteria have been grouped to assist you to easily find the information most relevant to your circumstances. However, you may fit into more than one and the university will consider applicants against each of the relevant criteria.
To be eligible for selection, applicants are required to have:
Completed the South Australian Certificate of Education (SACE); and
completed 200 credits of subjects;
achieved a grade of C* or better in the Personal Learning Plan, 20 credits of literacy, 10 credits of numeracy and the Research Project at Stage 2;
achieved a grade C- or better in an additional 60 credits at Stage 2;
obtained a competitive ATAR.
* For Stage 2 subjects a grade of C- or better is required
Completed the equivalent secondary education qualifications as required for University entry under SACE and fulfilled any prerequisite requirements or
Completed the International Baccalaureate Diploma and fulfilled any prerequisite requirements or
Completed or partly completed a recognised higher education program at a recognised higher education institution and fulfilled any prerequisite requirements or
Completed at least four Open Universities Australia (OUA) courses at the appropriate level and fulfilled any prerequisite requirements or
Completed an award from TAFE or from another registered training organisation at AQF Certificate IV or above and fulfilled any prerequisite requirements or
Qualified for Special Entry Sub-quota and fulfilled any prerequisite requirements or
Completed the University Foundation Studies program

In addition, international students who speak English as a foreign language must have obtained one of the following standards within the last two years prior to admission. Possession of one or more of these qualifications, in addition to the academic entry requirements, does not, in itself, guarantee a place at the University of South Australia. Applications are considered on an individual basis and selection is competitive. Where previous study/work experience was conducted in English, the application must be accompanied by certified documentation from the educational institution/employer certifying that the language of instruction/employment was English.

The Bachelor of Visual Arts (Ceramics) qualifies individuals to pursue creative practice, supported by specialised knowledge in research, in historical and contemporary art and culture and it allows graduates to undertake professional work, as well as providing pathways to further learning.
Content & Structure
Graduates of a Bachelor of Visual Arts (Ceramics) degree will have a broad knowledge of contemporary and historical visual arts practice and specialist knowledge and skills of ceramic design, ceramic design history and traditional and contemporary production, supported by in-depth studio practice, research and theoretical undertakings.
The students will complete 108 units of study comprising 36 units of specialisation in Ceramics, 40.5 units of core studio and theory studies, 27 units of visual arts electives and 4.5 units of free electives.
1. Students must complete a specialisation of 36 units in Ceramics. Students select 2 x 4.5 unit courses from Ceramics. The remaining 27 units will comprise VSAR 2012 AAD Specialisation 3, VSAR 3005 AAD Specialisation 4 and VSAR 3006 AAD Specialisation 5.
2. The six Visual Arts Electives may be selected from any of the Electives listed on the program schedule. Not every Elective course will be offered every year.
3. All students complete one free elective as part of their undergraduate program of study. Students wishing to undertake an extra free elective (which may be required for students who wish to undertake a teaching qualification on completion of the program) will need to seek approval from the Program Director.
4. Students who have a Grade Point Average of 4.5 or more and who wish to independently pursue a topic of interest not available from the courses offered in any one study period may choose either a research or a project-based negotiated study elective with the approval of the Program Director.
