Applicants would normally have completed a degree in a relevant discipline, or equivalent qualification. Entry is competitive and experience in engineering and information technology and completion of professional qualifications will be taken into account.

Aim

This program provides graduates in Electrical and ICT (Information and Communication Technologies) oriented engineering disciplines with an advanced understanding of the current practice and technology in one of the following streams:

Computational Physics
Computer Systems Engineering
Electrical Power Engineering
Microsystems Technology
Telecommunications
In addition, a general stream is available without a specialisation.

Content & Structure

The program can be taken either full-time or part-time and students may progress to the Graduate Diploma or Masters where offered. Students are required to complete a total of 18 units of study to be eligible for the certificate. The 18 units of study consist of 4 courses from any specialisation stream listed in the the Program Schedule of Courses.

Rules

1. Credit may be given to students who completed postgraduate level courses in addition to their undergraduate study, subject to the approval of the Program Director.Such credit will not be granted for more than one third of the total units of the program.

2. Where there is significant overlap of contents between courses offered as part of Graduate Certificate in Engineering and courses completed as part of undergraduate study, students are required to enrol in courses that have no such overlap.
