Clinical Podiatry Practice 301

Course aim

To consolidate and further develop clinical skills in the assessment, diagnosis and management of lower-limb issues including an introduction to surgical practice, management of the high-risk patient and advanced therapeutics.

Course content

Supervised clinical practice. Clinical techniques in the management of the routine and ‘at-risk’ patient. Clinical Pharmacology in podiatry practice; Assessment techniques for surgical management; Operating room procedures and protocols; Development of surgical skills including use of local anaesthetics, administering and removal of sutures; Introduction to the assessment and management of the ‘at-risk’ and ‘high-risk’ patient; Management of arthritidies and other chronic conditions; Clinical case studies to consolidate knowledge in the management of patients with differing condition groups in a variety of settings.
