Course aim

To consolidate and build clinical skills in assessment and management of lower limb problems, in a variety of clinical settings, with emphasis on advanced assessment techniques, clinical reasoning, patient education, wound management, and applied pharmacological knowledge.

Course content

Supervised clinical practice. Clinical management of routine and “at risk” patient in various clinical settings (including Aged Care Facilities, Diabetes Australia, Aboriginal Health and Salvation Army clinics); Advanced assessment and diagnostic techniques including Ankle Brachial Index, Doppler ultrasound, biothesiometry, plethysmography, Toe Pressures/Toe-brachial index; Applied patient education; Introduction into management of wounds and other temperature related injuries (cold/hot). Applied pharmacology in the clinical context.
