To critically examine and evaluate interconnections between peace, justice and reconciliation in a variety of conflict-affected and post-conflict countries.
The context of this course is conflict and post-conflict countries. Students will develop advanced knowledge of the relationship between peace and justice in non-violent negotiations and gain understanding of transitional justice, crimes against humanity and the role of the UN in peace missions. The course critically explores how reconciliation comes about through peace processes, truth commissions, apology and forgiveness, and in NGOs and through peace workers.
