Course aim

To examine the 'issues and crisis management' approach to public relations practice.

Course content

Stakeholder management, issues and risk management; planning an issues management program; media management strategies and the changing context of social media for public relations issues management lobby groups, activists and issues management; crisis communication theory and cases; legal, ethical perspectives; defining crises, crisis types, life cycles and trends; crises causes and typologies; factors influencing crises outcomes; crisis management, response strategies and developing a crisis plan; crisis recovery; post-crisis rebuilding.
