Course aim

The aim of this course is to develop theory and practice skills of midwifery continuity of care/carer models focusing on women and beginning competence in health teaching and health promotion for women and their families across pregnancy, childbirth and the early parenting experiences in the postnatal period to increase health literacy.

Course content

International, national and state midwifery led models of care/carer; principles of adult learning; principles of health teaching; childbirth education for teenagers; teaching strategies for effective group work; communication and interpersonal skills for health care professionals; communication across diverse cultural groups; health literacy; health promotion and education in the early postnatal period.
