Course aim

The aim of this course is to develop the foundations of midwifery practice to enable the exploration of pregnancy as a normal phenomenon, and facilitate primary health care for women during pregnancy in a multicultural society.

Course content

Australian College of Midwives (ACM) competencies; reproductive anatomy; physiology of conception; human growth and development; family planning; antenatal health history and assessment skills; antenatal physical examination; law and ethics; multiculturalism; working in teams; communication and documentation skills; evidenced based care; information literacy.
