Course aim

The aim of this course is to introduce students to the environment within which typical major projects are planned and executed and the principle factors shaping that environment, including organisational, financial, process, environmental, regulatory and people factors.

Course content

Characteristics of major projects including organisational, financial, culture, process, regulatory and the development capability including fundamental inputs to capability. Infrastructure projects. Government versus commercial projects. Environmental, labour and skills issues. The sociology of project teams. Project management structures and tools. Team learning and decision making. Forms of human capital and their place in project social systems and networks. Project leadership. Project management body of knowledge.
