Course aim

To provide students with a comprehensive understanding of key processes involved in water and wastewater quality, treatment and supply for human and environmental needs.

Course content

• Water resources: International context, Water Resources –catchment, surface, reclaimed and groundwater, public health issues. 
• Water Quality Processes: Basic aquatic microbiology; water chemistry, aquatic biology, blue green algae and their control. 
• Treatment of water for drinking purposes (including conventional and emerging technologies); disinfection, drinking water distribution; municipal wastewater treatment and reuse; industrial wastewater treatment and recycling; composting: bio-solids reuse/disposal
