To enable students to develop advanced skills in critically analysing and applying contemporary family theory, concepts and approaches to assist families in conflict.
Family functioning and dynamics. Impact of separation on families. Identify and respond to the dynamics of domestic and family violence, Identify and respond to gender and power, assess and respond to safety concerns, ability to screen for family and domestic violence. Child focus and child inclusive practice, working with adolescents, grief and loss theory, property settlements in families post separation. Practice issues for family dispute resolution practitioners including familiarity with certificates, intervention orders and parenting plans. Elder centred practice , culturally sensitive practice in family disputes, indigenous and international perspectives.
