Course aim

To provide students with an increased understanding of the genres of writing that exist in English and to consolidate their skills in utilizing a variety genres /text types; to explore the issue of language policy as it pertains to Aboriginal schools.

Course content

Consolidation of genre theory; examination of concentrated language encounters and scaffolding; principles and strategies in teaching text types to students; selection of texts; preparing students for the reading writing task and supporting students during the process; examination of the issues influencing local school language policies; investigation into bilingualism, two-way schooling and all English language programs.
