Aim

To develop students' ability to undertake informed and critical analysis of theory and specialist practice in international relations, world politics and comparative intercultural studies, including the opportunity to undertake supervised experience in research at Master's level.

Content & Structure

To qualify for the Master of International Studies students must complete the equivalent of 54 units, comprising either:

  • a research option: consisting of 36 units of approved postgraduate courses, including an approved research methods course, and an 18,000 word (18 unit) minor postgraduate thesis; or
  • a professional option: consisting of 45 units of approved postgraduate courses and a 9,000 word (9 unit) professional project report; or
  • a coursework option: consisting of 54 units of approved postgraduate courses.
