Course aim

To encourage students to think in new, critical and innovative ways about the world around them and to develop their skills in communicating effectively in both academic and professional environments.

Course content

Students are introduced to the academic skills required within the university and professional context, including critical thinking, active reading, effective writing,  group collaboration and referencing.   Students will use these skills to develop their own research topics, considering the case studies presented to them in the weekly lectures together with their own in-depth research and innovative thinking to highlight an issue they believe could provide an important avenue for cultural and creative research.
