Metropolitan Preservice Teachers are encouraged to complete a regional placement in second, third or fourth year of their undergraduate program. Metropolitan postgraduate Preservice Teachers are encouraged to complete a regional placement at any stage of their program.

In October each year, you will receive an email from the Professional Experience Office (PEO) asking you to nominate a preference for a regional location via InPlace (login required) for your placement the following year. This email will also provide a timetable of Regional Placement zooms hosted by the PEO providing you the opportunity to hear from leaders and graduate teachers from a range of sites in South Australia.

If you do not wish to complete a regional placement in the following year please do not nominate a regional location.

In January each year, the PEO will collate the regional placements offered by sites and allocate placements to preservice teachers that nominated a regional location. Please note preservice teachers living in a regional area will recieve priority placement in that region.

PSTs who are successful in securing a regional placement are eligible to apply for the PEO Metro PST Regional Placement Grant of $600. Please email EDC-Placement@unisa.edu.au to request the grant application form.

To find information on the University of South Australia Placement Grant supporting students who are required to relocate to undertake a regional placement of 19 days or more (eligibility criteria applies), please visit the UniSA Placement Grant Website.

Preservice Teachers are responsbile for arranging their own accommodation and transport. We recommend you investigate options and cost prior to nominating for a regional placement.

Preservice Teachers who live in a regional area do not need to preference on InPlace as the PEO use your address as it appears on your InPlace file when sourcing and allocating your placement.

Please note the SA Government regions to assist you in nominating your region of choice.
