There is a high demand from local education providers, and teaching placements outside South Australia can be difficult to source. As a result, Preservice Teachers (PSTs) seeking an interstate placement need to proactively contact the Professional Experience Office (PEO) to advise their preferences as early as possible.

PSTs will need to ensure all prerequisites are met and provide at least five host sites they can travel to in order to complete their placement. Please remember that placement offerings are at the discretion of the host and it is not always possible to source a placement at a preferred location.

It is important to note that if you are completing a placement interstate there may be additional or different prerequisites required to comply with state legislation. This includes but is not limited to your Working with Children Clearance.

This information is relevant to all Preservice Teachers who will intend to undertake a Professional Experience placement or any other Professional Experience activity interstate, whether they are living within or outside of South Australia at the time of placement.
