Regional Teaching Placements

Preservice Teachers (PSTs) enrolled in an Education program at UniSA have the opportunity to complete a regional placement during their degree.

Who Can Apply?

  • Undergraduate PSTs: Eligible to apply for a regional placement in second, third, or fourth year.
  • Postgraduate PSTs: Encouraged to apply at any stage of their program.

What is a Regional Placement?

Regional placements are located outside the Adelaide metropolitan area. These placements offer valuable professional and personal experiences in diverse educational settings.

How to Apply

To request a regional placement:

  • Nominate your preference via InPlace (login required) for the following year.
  • You may also preference specific regional locations.
  • Submit your preferences as early as possible to support planning and sourcing.

Please note regional requests are NOT always possible due to demand and staffing in our regional areas. If you would like to get in touch with us to discuss your request, please contact the PEO at EDC-Placement@unisa.edu.au or 83026606.

Priority and Allocation

  • PSTs living in a regional area will receive priority placement in their local region.
  • If you live regionally, you do not need to nominate via InPlace — your address on file will be used for placement sourcing.

Travel, Accommodation & Costs

  • PSTs are responsible for arranging their own accommodation and transport.
  • We recommend researching options and costs before nominating for a regional placement.

Financial Support

  • PSTs who secure a regional placement are eligible to apply for the PEO Metro PST Regional Placement Grant of $600.
→ To request the application form, email: EDC-Placement@unisa.edu.au

  • Additional support may be available through the UniSA Placement Grant for students required to relocate for 19 days or more (eligibility criteria apply).
