Metropolitan Teaching Placements

All students enrolled in an Education program at UniSA are required to undertake professional experience placements throughout their degree. The Professional Experience Office (PEO) coordinates placements in metropolitan schools across the Adelaide area.

What is a Metropolitan Placement?

Metropolitan placements refer to teaching placements located within the Adelaide metropolitan area, including:

  • Adelaide CBD and surrounding suburbs
  • Barossa Valley
  • Adelaide Hills

Please note: Although the Barossa and Adelaide Hills are geographically outside the city, they are classified as metropolitan for placement purposes.

Placement Preferences and Allocation

Placements are arranged by the PEO based on:

  • Program requirements
  • Student location and transport access
  • School availability and capacity

To support a successful placement experience, students must:

  • Submit their placement preferences correctly and by the deadline outlined in their Welcome email.
  • The information provided in these preferences is used by the PEO to allocate the placement. It is essential that students ensure that the adress provided in their student profile is accurate and up to date.

Students cannot arrange their own placements. All placements must be coordinated by the PEO to ensure compliance with accreditation and insurance requirements.

Travel and Transport

Students are expected to travel to their allocated metropolitan placement site. While every effort is made to consider student circumstances, placement locations may require travel of up to 90 minutes each way.
