Interested in Pharmacy?

Benefit from over 50 years’ experience in pharmacy education, state-of-the-art facilities and curriculum informed by well-above world standard research in Pharmacology and Pharmaceutical Sciences.1

Pharmacy is one of the most trusted professions in Australia and has had a strong presence in the community for over 150 years. Pharmacists are registered health professionals who are experts in medicines. Through promoting health awareness and providing expert advice on medicines they contribute to the betterment of the community.

The pharmaceutical industry is rapidly growing, due in part to an ageing population and technological advances that make it easier and more cost effective for new medications to be created and tested. This broadening market means graduates of these degrees enjoy excellent job prospects.

You’ll learn in the new $247 million University of South Australia Cancer Research Institute – the gateway to Adelaide’s BioMED City and new leading destination for health research and teaching, benefiting from industry connections, experienced staff and strong links with internationally renowned research concentrations.

Our Bachelor of Pharmacy (Honours) is South Australia’s only pharmacy degree, providing the pathway to become a registered pharmacist. We are also one of the four universities in Australia to be a member of the prestigious National Alliance for Pharmacy Education (NAPE). You will gain industry experience through field placements and graduate with honours, providing a competitive edge in the ever-evolving field of pharmacy.

Our Bachelor of Pharmaceutical Science is a flexible degree – the only one of its kind in South Australia. You will have the opportunity to tailor your program to your interests and pursue a career in a range of areas, including drug discovery and development, manufacturing and production, clinical trials and pharmaceutical sales and marketing.

We also offer postgraduate qualifications with our Graduate Certificate in Pharmacy Practice, giving intern pharmacists the opportunity to complete the Pharmacy Intern Training Program, and also our Master of Clinical Pharmacy, designed for Registered Pharmacists wanting to excel their career.

I enjoyed chemistry and biology in school and always knew I wanted to study pharmacy. This double degree provides a broader range of knowledge about medications; from their discovery and development through to what information patients need to know prior to taking medications. A highlight of my studies was being awarded the SA/NT Pharmacy Student of the Year.
