If you are seeking a dynamic and global career path, this degree will prepare you with a set of skills that are highly sought after by employers. You will learn effective problem-solving, critical and strategic thinking, communication, and an awareness of the global business environment. 
You will graduate with solid theoretical grounding, industry knowledge and the management skills to enhance your career prospects in a diverse range of tourism, event and hospitality business sectors. 
There is one annual intake in September and the degree is delivered over 3 trimesters. Students are generally expected to complete the degree requirements in 12 months. 
Students may attend a graduation ceremony or presentation of awards ceremony in Adelaide or Hong Kong. The Hong Kong ceremony can be attended in the November following the standard expected completion date.

  • Business development manager: working to improve an organisation’s market position and financial growth; defining strategic goals, building customer relationships, identifying business opportunities, implementing marketing initiatives
  • Community development officer: maximising the use of local facilities through the development of programs, creating partnerships, and working with the community; developing initiatives for local residents to improve wellbeing and enhance quality of life

This degree has been designed specifically for students with an existing qualification, who are therefore eligible for course credit. Depending on your qualification, you could receive credit for up to 12 courses.

Your study experience and support

At present there are over 6,000 full-time students and approximately 2,450 part-time students enrolled in degrees at various levels from certificates, diplomas, higher/professional diplomas, as well as associate degrees and higher degrees. In addition to offering degrees awarded by Hong Kong Baptist University,  SCE has provided various degrees collaboratively with different overseas institutions.

Your program director

I am the Program Director of Sport and Recreation Management and Tourism and Event Management degrees at UniSA Business. I also am a Senior Lecturer in Event and Tourism Management and a Research Ethics Advisor. I am currently serving on the Editorial Board of 'Event Management', the ‘International Journal of Event and Festival Management’ and ‘Frontiers in Sports and Active Living’. My PhD specialises in the fields of Tourism and Event Management. I am passionate about event management, visitor experiences and event impacts and have conducted research projects on local and international festivals and sports events. My research has informed both government and industry to better understand the wider impact to the community and guide policy making. With my industry informed experience, I believe graduates will be well equipped with the skills necessary for future success. This program offers both in-depth knowledge and practical, hands-on opportunities which graduates will need in order to succeed in the sport, tourism and events industries.
