Law Honours at UniSA is by invitation and students will be enrolled by the School of Law. Students must complete Honours in the year offered, Law Honours is offered internally only and students would normally undertake the Honours during their final year of study.

Current eligibility to be invited to undertake honours requires students:

- be currently enrolled in a Bachelor of Laws or Laws Double Degree at UniSA;
- have completed 72 law units of their Bachelor’s degree; and
- have a GPA of not less than 5.3.

The Laws Double Degree (Honours) will provide you with a professional level of education to pursue your legal career. Study in a complementary discipline will provide you with the expertise in another field and enhance your career options in a wide range of working environments.

Content & Structure

The total number of units required is 180 - that is, 40 courses. Those 40 courses are divided as follows between the two degree programs: 24 courses from the Bachelor of Laws program; and 16 courses from the Second Degree.

Rules

1. The Laws Double Degree (Honours) comprises 40 courses totaling 180 units and includes: 24 courses from the Bachelor of Laws program; and 16 courses from the Bachelor of Business (Tourism and Event Management) Degree.

2. Law Honours students must complete no less than two Honours Elective courses as prescribed, in addition to the compulsory Honours courses listed in the program schedule, to graduate with Honours in Law.

2. Students must complete the requirements of each degree as specified in the relevant program schedule to receive both degree parchments.

Professional accreditation and recognition

This program covers in a comprehensive way the academic requirements for admission to practice as specified by the national Law Admissions Consultative Committee and applied in South Australia by the Legal Practitioners Education and Admission Council. In addition to the academic requirements of the program, students seeking admission to practice are required to complete an approved practical legal training (PLT) program. Students seeking admission to practice in other Australian jurisdictions should apply to the appropriate admitting authority.
